All four of our recipes are made from scratch with real, all natural ingredients, focused on creating the best quality plant-based milk tea possible. We refuse to use any artificial flavors, powders, or colors.

Other places with similar claims still use pre-produced milks, including the vegan ones that still have binders and preservatives. Let's not even talk about cow's milk. At Utter, we make all our own milks from scratch, with each flavor employing its own unique base to best complement the tea.

With accessibility in mind, all of our ingredients are vegan, gluten-free, and mindful to those with nut allergies (we use coconut, which the FDA still classifies as a tree nut).

sustainable packaging

In an effort to reduce single-use plastics, our product is packaged in 16 oz glass jars that are yours to keep and reuse, or you can return it on your next visit for a discount on your next purchase. Think of it like a bottle deposit.

Additionally, the straws we use are made with bamboo fiber and are compostable.

We know businesses produce a lot of waste. We strive to try harder, and do better for our planet.

the founder

Built from the desire to innovate and create an exceptional boba experience, Utter is the brainchild of Portland born creative, Andrew Le. The third son of Vietnamese and Khmer immigrant parents, Andrew grew up with foods like mung bean, taro, red bean, ube, tapioca, and coconut through various Southeast Asian foods and desserts.

Earning a Graphic Design degree, Andrew was obsessed with making things the best versions they could be, and solving problems with a beautiful product. Never one to enjoy cow's milk, he wondered if he could make a completely handmade plant-based boba drink from scratch. Taking ingredients and flavors from his childhood, he created the recipes that became Utter.
